ITEM 1:  We believe in the Canadian online trading industry.
By 2012, 1.5 million Canadian households are projected to trade online, up 73 per cent from 2005, according to Investor Economics.

ITEM 2 Canadian Online Trader is proud to represent the online trading industry.
Canadian Online Trader represents Canadian online brokers to their customers and prospects with fair, honest, and neutral coverage.

 And we represent our readers, telling their stories to the businesses in the online trading industry.

Our Number One responsibility is to our readers.

ITEM 3:  We have an educational mandate.
We are a guide to the overall process of online trading;  we provide specific tips and insights to improve the techniques of online trading. We do not give specific buy or sell tips on stocks, bonds, mutual funds, ETFs, etc.

ITEM 4:  Canadian Online Trader is supported by online brokers and related businesses.
They were invited to be founding sponsors and service advertisers because we believe they are leaders worthy of coverage.

n    Being the first hybrid of its kind, Canadian Online Trader will rely on the highest standards of ethical and professional conduct of all online brokers sponsoring a web-based magazine.

n    Sponsors and advertisers do not dictate nor approve content.

n    In addition to benefiting readers, our integrity policy means advertisers will benefit from knowing that no other advertiser will get bigger, more positive stories, because it has spent more money with us.

n    Subjects of stories may support coverage through supply of travel, hospitality, samples, and test units. 

ITEM 5:  We follow traditional standards of journalistic integrity, while being industry-friendly.

n    Canadian Online Trader welcomes guest columns, op-ed articles, insight pieces, and other contributions from online trading industry leaders, including educators, and authors, independent of advertising.

We welcome story ideas from readers, too.

n    Letters to the Editor are welcome from industry leaders and, most importantly, from readers. After checking for authenticity, a selection will be published regularly.

n    Canadian Online Trader does not have blog-like anonymous comments.

n    Our writing style is straightforward, aimed at intelligent non-specialists. Technical material is simplified for a general audience. We love using humour to lighten up traditional financial writing, which has a reputation of being stuffy and boring.

n    We love interesting photography.
