| Canadian Online Trader is the
creation of Jana Schilder, a Toronto-based corporate
communications professional and freelance journalist.
Canadian Online Trader is aimed at men and women across Canada
who now manage their own investments by using the services of an
online broker, or who are thinking about starting to do this.
Canadian Online Trader grew out of the work Ms. Schilder has
done for The Toronto Star, first in 2007 as content director,
then since January 2008 to mid-2009 as Editor in Chief and
contract holder of Online Trading, a Toronto Star Special
Advertising Section.
In mid-2009, The Star, in a cost-cutting move, took Online
Trading in-house, and promptly commissioned Ms. Schilder to
provide content ideas and, as a freelance reporter, write the
majority of stories in each subsequent quarterly edition.
Her freelancing for The Star also includes supplying
articles to The Star for other special sections on online
investing and other areas of finance. |
First Principles
Communication, in addition to working on Online Trader for the
Star in Toronto and the new Canadian Online Trader nationally
and internationally, provides a broad range of corporate
communications, media relations, marketing communications and
change management services to a wide variety of clients.
Ms. Schilder established First Principles
Communication seven years ago after spending two decades working
in the corporate communications and change management operations
of major organizations, including Digital Equipment Corporation,
Northern Telecom, McCarthy Tetrault, Canadian National, Hydro
One, and KPMG.
"For the past decade, I've been
fascinated by the interplay between and among digital
technology, the internet, print publishing, television, and for
lack of a better phrase, 'information retailing' "she says.
"My thinking thinking about these issues has
resulted in a web-based publication with a mix of information
that is delivered in a manner that people are likely to benefit
from, while enjoying reading about it. My decades of
communications thinking has all come together, and has created a
great publication, of which I am very proud", she says. |
